Box Score ALBION, Mich. - The Adrian Bulldogs were without two of their top players but it was not a factor as they finished the regular season with a win, besting Albion 71-55. The Bulldogs, 16-8 (9-5 MIAA), finished the regular season second place in the MIAA Conference. This was the best season yet for third-year Head Coach Mark White and the Bulldogs best finish since the 1978-79 season when Adrian went 15-8 (9-3 MIAA) which was good enough for second place.
The game got off to a slow start for the Bulldogs, trailing Albion 6-2 two minutes into the game. Adrian then went on a 12-2 run, capped by a put-back lay-up from junior Sean Gallant. Gallant finished the game with 16 points and seven rebounds.
The Bulldogs took over the lead at the 16:12 mark in the first half, and would not surrender the lead the rest of the game. Adrian went into the locker room, leading Albion 34-29 at halftime. The second half was much like the first, with the Bulldogs controlling the Britons throughout.
Sophomore Richaud Pack led all scorers with 18 points, going 4-5 from behind the arc. Freshman Adam Meier added 16 points, going 6-10 from the field. Freshman Eric Lewis added nine points and seven rebounds.
Junior Cody Barnes got the start at point guard as Adrian was without juniors Delano Collins and Brad Whitby. Whitby will be out for the season and Collins is questionable for the MIAA Conference game Wednesday. The Bulldogs played only eight players in tonight's game.
Adrian will look ahead to that Wednesday game as it will be a home game in the semi-final round of the MIAA Tournament. Adrian will host Trine, 14-10 (8-6 MIAA) after the Thunder lost to the 1 seed Hope on Saturday. In the other semi-final, Hope 24-1 (14-0 MIAA) will host Calvin 13-12 (8-6 MIAA) at Holland, also on Wednesday. The Bulldog/Thunder game time has yet to be announced for the Wednesday semi-final.
