Box Score OLIVET, Mich. - Freshman Adam Meier and the Adrian Bulldog Men's Basketball team took control midway through the first half and led the final 31 minutes of the game as they knocked off Olivet, 72-59. With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 14-7 (7-4 MIAA) which is good enough to tie with Calvin for second place in the MIAA.
Meier finished the game with a team-high 21 points on 9-12 shooting from the field. This was a new career-high for Meier as he bested his previous high which was Saturday against Trine when he scored 15 points.
The Bulldogs had two other players in double-figures as juniors Sean Gallant and Brad Whitby finished with 13 and 10 respectfully. Freshman Eric Lewis added nine points and six rebounds off the bench.
Adrian finished the game out-rebounding Olivet 41-24 despite being out-shot from behind the arc as the Bulldogs went just 1-8 on 3-point shots while the Comets shot 7-17. The lone three-pointer made for the Bulldogs was by sophomore Drew Torey as he knocked down a triple to give the Adrian a 65-49 lead with 5:55 left in the game.
The Bulldogs were able to outlast a strong performance by Olivet's Jaren Edsall who finished with 22 points on 5-9 shooting from behind the arc.
After this game, the Bulldogs now have three MIAA contests left before the MIAA tournament begins. The Bulldogs will have a home game against Alma, who sits at 7-15 (3-8 MIAA), this Saturday. The two teams met at Alma on Jan. 18th with the Scots coming out on top, 74-68. The game will tip-off from the Merillat Gymnasium at 3 p.m.
