Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. – Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Offensive Player of the Week Nick Minshall started a rally with just 15 minutes remaining that saw Adrian (2-6, 0-2) dominate late, but not enough to overtake Kalamazoo (4-1-1, 2-0) in a 2-1 conference defeat Tuesday night.
Minshall got his team-leading sixth goal of the season off a nice feed from Ryan McCarthy, as the sophomore forward buried it from about 15 yards out. Minshall and McCarthy combined for five shots on net for the Bulldogs on the night.
"We hurt ourselves tonight. We made a strong push but fell short in the end. We will get back to the training field and get better from this," said head coach Chris LeFevre.
The Hornets took a 1-0 lead off a free kick that hit just inside the crossbar just over 18 minutes into the game. Kalamazoo went up 2-0, off a rebound just over 18 minutes into the second half. Bulldogs goalkeeper Niko Giantsopoulous could not be faulted on either goal.
Adrian has a 5-4 combined goal total advantage from its last three starts and will continue conference play at home this Saturday with a 2:30 afternoon tilt against Trine.
