Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. – The men's soccer team (2-7, 0-3) lost a sea-saw conference battle with Trine University (3-5, 1-2) Saturday afternoon in the rain, 1-0.
Both teams had chances and both goalkeepers were sharp as the teams played scoreless for almost 70 minutes. Trine's Curtis Holcom registered his sixth goal of the season at 69:49, which proved to be the decisive tally of the contest.
Pat Bradley and Nick Minshall both had opportunities to either give their side a lead or tie, respectively. Bradley broke in alone about nine minutes into the second half, only to be thwarted by the Thunder goalkeeper at point blank range. Had Bradley not been stopped, it would have given the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Minshall had a similar opportunity about six minutes after Trine had scored. Again, Trine was fortunate to keep Adrian from tying the game.
Bulldogs' Niko Giantsopoulous was equally solid at the other end, backstopping several key stops to keep Adrian close. Giantsopoulous finished the game with nine saves, many of which were clutch.
The Bulldogs will get back at it again at home against Alma on Wednesday night, Sept. 26th, with a 7:00 p.m. start in another conference matchup.
