ADRIAN, Mich. - The women's basketball team hung tough for one half of basketball against No. 5 Hope College on Wednesday, but the Flying Dutch proved to have too much firepower in a 75-29 decision over the Bulldogs (5-15, 4-8).

Hope opened the game scoring the first 10 points and Adrian did not crack the scoreboard until 5:40 into the contest on a jumper from LaQwana Dockery in the paint. Adrian cut the lead to 14-8 at the 10:23 mark after a fast-break layup by Antoinea McElroy and looked to have settled in after the first few minutes.

The Bulldogs trailed 31-17 at intermission as Hope scored the final four points of the half in the last 47 seconds. The Hope bench had 16 points compared to nine for Adrian in the opening 20 minutes.

The Flying Dutch pushed the ball coming out of the locker room and scored 11 straight points to build their lead to 42-17 with 15:47 left and the Bulldogs could not recover. The Bulldogs shot 16.3 percent (8-of-49) from the floor with their season-low in shooting and points. Hope shot 36.2 percent (21-of-58) and held a huge 59-25 advantage in rebounding. The Flying Dutch finished the game with a 21-0 edge in second-chance points and outscored Adrian 32-8 in points off turnovers.

Lauren Rhoads led the Bulldogs with nine points going 6-of-6 from the charity stripe. Casey Fougerousse added six points on two triples. McElroy also had six points in 19 minutes. Adrian finished 10-of-13 at the free throw line compared to 27-of-32 for Hope (19-1, 11-1).
