Box Score ADRIAN, Mich.- The Bulldogs opened their season at home against NCHA foe Marian (Wis.). Adrian dominated the game by totaling 44 shots to just 18 from the Sabres. The win advanced the Bulldogs to 2-1 on the season and 2-1 in the NCHA.
The first period saw even game play until a Bulldog penalty forced Adrian to go shorthanded 14 minutes into the period. The Bulldogs penalty kill sparked the offense and broke the tie as Kristin Lewicki (1) scored from Lauren Turner. This lead carried to the second period and sparked the Bulldogs dominance as they outshot Marian 19 to four in the second period. Adrian added to the lead at the 14:14 mark when Kelsey Kusch (2) scored a power play goal from Hannah McGowan and Alix Vallee. The Bulldogs would carry this two goal lead to the third period and continue their dominant play. Adrian made their lead 3-0 at the 11:27 mark of the period when Courtney Millar (2) scored from Courtney Tyll and Vallee. Marian ended the Bulldogs shutout just two minutes later and cut the lead to 3-1. The Bulldogs would secure their victory with one more goal when Millar (3) scored from Danielle Smith and Turner.
Jade Walsh made 17 stops and helped kill off nine of the 10 Marian power play opportunities as she won her second game of the season.
The Bulldogs will finish their home weekend series against the Sabres tomorrow, Saturday November 9 at 2 p.m.
