Men's tennis picks up fifth win over Heidelberg, 8-1

TIFFIN, Ohio – The men's tennis team (5-2) picked up their fifth win of the season with an 8-1 victory over Heidelberg University, Sunday.

"Really proud of all of our guys today and how we bounced back from a tough loss last week. Our four freshmen all competed at an extremely high level and were able to take control of their singles matches. Even in the lone loss, I thought Ryan played great and struck ball the best he has all year," said head men's tennis coach Adam Albertsen.

Freshmen Jordan Verbauwhede and Michael Mertz led the way for the Bulldogs with an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles and straight-set victories in singles (No. 1 and No.3, respectively), while senior Cameron Hamilton came out on top of a tight match winning 6-3, 5-7, 10-4.

"The men came out focused and took care of business on the doubles court against Heidelberg. Jumping up 3-0 on the road helped us get into a grove in singles and play loose," added Albertsen.

The team's next match is Monday, March 4th, against Roanoke College at Hilton Head, SC.
