Adrian Rolls Past Concordia (Wis.) 5-1

ADRIAN, Mich.  – The Bulldogs took on Concordia University of Wisconsin Friday for their first of three matchups this season. Adrian came into the game riding a six game winning streak and the Falcons entered Friday's game having lost four straight. These trends continued as the Bulldogs steamrolled the Falcons in a 5-1 decision that advanced their NCHA record to 6-3 and their season record to 13-3.

The first period was all Adrian as Kelsey Kusch scored her 18th of the season from Danielle Smith and Hannah McGowan on a breakaway with 5:47 left in the period. The Bulldogs continued this dominance throughout the period as they advanced their lead to two on a power play goal from Alix Vallee. Vallee scored her second of the year from just inside the blue line on assists from Danielle Smith and Kusch.

The second period brought back and forth play as each team fired 11 shots on goal for the period. The Bulldogs scored two and stopped each chance from the Falcons as they advanced their lead to 4-0 after two periods. The first goal of the period came with 6:18 left as Kaylyn Schroka scored her third of the season from Lexie Tzafaroglou. The second came from McKenzie Carey as she scored her first of the season on assists from Lauren Turner and Danielle Smith with just 52 seconds left in the period.

The final period saw the Falcons push to get back in the game but the Bulldogs had all of the answers. Kristin Lewicki upped the lead to 5-0 at the 13:37 mark on helpers from Cara Harm and Lauren Turner. Concordia (Wis.) was able to respond an end the Bulldogs shutout streak with 12:37 left in the game. The Bulldogs held on for the remainder of play and secured the win, 5-1.

Jade Walsh increased her record to 9-2 by stopping 29 shots and holding the Falcons to 0-8 on the power play.

The Bulldogs gave up their first goal since the 5:28 mark in the second period against Chatham University January 7. That was a shutout streak of over 192 minutes of game play that encompassed 11 periods of hockey.

The Bulldogs will play Concordia (Wis.) again tomorrow, January 18 for a 12 p.m. faceoff.
