Women's Bowling

Recap from Midwest Collegiate Classic

ADDISON, Ill. - The women's bowling team began their second half of the season competing against 52 other teams in the Kegel/ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic in Addison, Illinois. It would be their first tier one of the season and the Bulldogs got off to a great start shooting 980 following by another 900. The team stumbled a bit in the third game on Saturday, but rebounded to finish off the first day of competition with a 979 and a 955. After the first day the team was in ninth place with four more games to bowl on Sunday.

On Sunday, the team got off to slow start but managed to shoot a 906 and a 917 in their second and third games. With a strong finish they could've finished in the top ten, but they had too many opens and splits in the last game which dropped them to 18th place. The team was led by senior Chelsea Essenmacher and junior Nicole Loomis finishing in 30th and 64th place out of 338 bowlers.

"While it's always great to finish in the top 20 at a tier one, we were on pace to finish as high as six, so that was a little disappointing," said head coach Jody Fetterhoff. "It was our first tournament back after almost two months off, so it's not surprising the team was a little rusty." Prior to the tournament, the team received votes in the first NCBCA Poll of the season and ended up beating two of the teams that coaches ranked in the top 20.
