Box Score

DE PERE, Wis. - The highly anticipated matchup between No. 1 Adrian College and No. 2 St. Norbert College on Friday night turned into a one-sided affair as the visiting Bulldogs dropped an 11-1 decision to the Green Knights. The two teams clashed for the first time in the regular season after two previous matchups in the NCAA Tournament in 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons. The teams were tied atop the NCHA standings entering tonight's game as St. Norbert now jumps ahead with 24 points. The Bulldogs will get another shot at the Green Knights tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. eastern time searching for their first win in the series (0-3).

St. Norbert snapped Adrian's 38-game regular season conference win streak dating back to Jan. 28, 2012 against MSOE. In addition, the 19-game unbeaten streak to start a season for Adrian came to an end. The Green Knights struck quickly as Adrian went down 2-0 in the first 1:40 of the game. By the end of the first period it was 4-0 in favor of St. Norbert as Pijus Rulevicius (6) and Blake Thompson (3) also scored in the first 15:23 of the opening period.

The Green Knights were lethal on the power play going 5-of-6 against a penalty kill that had given up just 11 goals in 19 games before tonight. The Bulldogs had also yielded 30 goals total before Friday. Tyler Zepeda added a power play goal at 1:12 of the second and even strength goal at 2:49 to make it 6-0. Patrick McCadden (6) and Ross Pavek (3) both scored power play goals at 14:35 and 17:22 respectively to make it 8-0 after 40 minutes.

Erik Cooper (11) scored at 3:07 of the third for the ninth St. Norbert goal and then Adrian's Zach Wilson (3) got the Bulldogs on the board at 9:12 from Rob Heath. Zepeda (6) completed the hat trick short-handed at 13:27 and Mason Baptista (3) notched a power play goal at 16:36 for the final tally of the contest.
