The women's bowling team competed in their first two AHIBC Conference events this past weekend in Columbus, Ohio. Saturday's event was bowled on a very short Sydney pattern. The oil pattern is only 33 feet so the scoring pace was low. The team struggled again in their first game, but rebounded to shoot a 974 which ended up being the highest game shot by any team in the tournament. Adrian finished up the team game portion shooting two low 800's. The team got off to a better start shooting a 678 in their first of four baker blocks, but their scores dropped each set and the team finished seventh out of 15 teams.
Freshman Noelle Scheuer and junior Katie Pakkala led the way for the Bulldogs. Scheuer finished 12th out of 118 bowlers averaging a 181.75 for four games, while Pakkala averaged a 185.33 for three games.
In their second conference event which took place on Sunday, the team bowled on Seoul which is a 39-foot oil pattern. Adrian got off to a good start shooting 909 and 912. They cooled off a bit in their third game, but shot an 895 the last game which put them in fifth place with 16 baker games to go. Unfortunately the team wasn't able to shoot any big games and dropped down to finish in seventh place again.
Scheuer had another great tournament as she led the team with a 187 average to finish 13th out of 115 bowlers. Senior Nicole Loomis also had a good showing finishing in 25th place averaging 180.75.
