Bulldogs Complete Weekend Sweep of No.9 Foresters

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Bulldogs finished their weekend series with the No. 9 Foresters Sunday afternoon as they looked to complete the weekend sweep. The Bulldogs carried the lead after one period, but the Foresters found their offensive stride as they fought Adrian to a 2-2 tie heading into the final 20 minutes. Adrian broke the stalemate early in the period and fought off the Forester attack for the remainder of the game as they completed their sweep with a 3-2 victory. This win advances the overall record for Adrian to 2-0 and they now stand at 2-0 in the NCHA.

The Bulldogs and Foresters came out battling from the beginning as the first period saw Lake Forest fire eight shots while Adrian recorded seven. The Bulldogs were the first to break through this stalemate as Kelsey Kusch scored her second of the season at the 8:14 mark from Lexie Tzafaroglou and Logan Taylor to give the Bulldogs the early advantage. Adrian carried this momentum throughout the period as they took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission. The second period then saw the Foresters battle back into the game as they scored twice. Lake Forest tied the game at the 4:49 mark then took the lead on a power play opportunity with 8:04 remaining in the period as they left Adrian behind, 2-1.  The Bulldogs let Lake Forest carry this lead for only a short period as Kusch tied the game on a power play goal from Kristin Lewicki and Tzafaroglou at the 13:45 mark.

The teams remained tied at two to start the third as Lake Forest was battling Adrian to even the season series. The Bulldogs would fight off this charge from the Foresters as Logan Taylor put the Bulldogs ahead for good at the 4:18 mark of the final period from Hannah McGowan and Kusch to up the score to 3-2.

Jade Walsh (2-0) earned the victory in goal for the Bulldogs as she would make 31 saves.

The Bulldogs will see action again November 7 when they travel to Marian (Wis.) for an 8 p.m. CST puck drop.
