FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The Bulldogs finished their weekend series with Marian (Wis.) Saturday afternoon. Adrian completed their weekend sweep of the Sabres in a dominating 6-2 victory as they now stand at 4-0 overall and 4-0 in the NCHA.
The first period saw the teams play to a scoreless tie as neither team was able to beat the goaltender despite 16 shots on goal from the Bulldogs.
The teams then opened up their offenses in the second period as they would combine for five goals and 21 shots on goal. The Bulldogs started the scoring as Kristin Lewicki scored at the 3:40 mark from Logan Taylor to give Adrian the early 1-0 advantage. Marian then jumped on the Bulldogs with two goals 26 seconds to take the 2-1 lead. Adrian did not let this quick momentum change rattle them as the Bulldogs would score two more goals before the second intermission to carry a 3-2 lead into the third period. Kelsey Kusch scored from Taylor and Lewicki to tie the game and Lewicki gave Adrian the lead from Lexie Tzafaroglou on the power play.
The Bulldogs then added to their lead in the third as they put the game out of reach with three goals in the final 20 minutes. Jessica Killingback scored shorthanded, Audrey Noles scored on the power play and Hannah McGowan scored even strength to add to the Bulldog attack.
Jade Walsh made 25 saves as she advanced to 4-0 on the year.
The Bulldogs will see action again on November 21 when they travel to St. Norbert for an 8 p.m. puck drop.
