Concordia (Wis.) Forces 2-2 Tie with Adrian

MEQUON, Wis. – The Bulldogs took on the Concordia (Wis.) (CUW) Falcons Saturday afternoon their final NCHA regular season game of 2013-14 as they looked to improve their standing in the NCHA. The Falcons jumped out early on Adrian as they carried a two-goal lead into the third period. The Bulldogs rallied back with two goals in a 24 second span as they tied the game 2-2. Both teams remained scoreless for the remainder of the action as they drew an overtime tie. This leaves the Bulldogs record at 18-6-1 overall and 11-6-1 in the NCHA.

The first period saw CUW control the action as they outshot Adrian 9-8. The Falcons took the early lead as they found the back of the net with 10:13 left on the clock to leave the Bulldogs down, 1-0.

The second period saw the Bulldogs battle back as they outshot the Falcons 15-9 for the period. However, CUW still got the best of the scoring in the second as they scored on a shorthanded opportunity at the 4:19 mark. Adrian would go into the second intermission looking up at a 2-0 deficit.

The third period saw Adrian rally to tie the score. The Bulldogs scored two goals just 24 seconds apart. Audrey Noles scored at the 12:22 mark from Kristin Lewicki and Alix Vallee to bring the Bulldogs within one. Danielle Smith then tied the game at the 12:46 mark from Kelsey Kusch and Michelle Jones. The Bulldogs then looked to take the game but Concordia held of the Adrian attack to force an overtime period.

Overtime saw no scoring as CUW fired three shots on goal and Adrian fired one. The teams drew a neutral decision at a 2-2 tie.

Jade Walsh drew the decision as she brought her 2013-14 record to 12-5-1. Walsh made 26 stops and held the Falcons to 0-2 on the power play.

Adrian will see action again Friday, February 28 in the NCHA First Round as they host Concordia (Wis.) at 8 p.m.
