Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. – The Bulldogs met Trine University Thursday night for the second time in 2013-14. The Thunder got the best of Adrian in their first meeting back on January 11 in a 69-59 decision in Angola, Indiana. The Bulldogs looked to equal their season series with the Thunder but after Trine grabbed the early lead, Adrian could never recover. The Thunder led the entire game as they carried a 25-20 halftime advantage to a 60-51 victory. This loss drops Adrian to 5-15 on the season and 1-8 in the MIAA.
The first half saw Trine grab the early lead, but the Bulldogs battled to tie the score twice in the first 5:21 of the game as the teams were locked in a 8-8 score. The Thunder followed this stalemate with an 8-0 run over the next 2:29 of the game to take the lead, 16-8. The teams battled back and forth for the remainder of the half but Adrian could not overcome the Trine lead as they trailed at the break, 25-20.
The second half saw the Thunder methodically add to their lead as scores piled up on the Bulldogs and Trine took their lead to 15, 48-33 with 8:58 remaining. The Bulldogs did not quit as they narrowed the Trine lead to five with 51 seconds remaining. The Thunder made their free throws down the stretch and Trine sealed their victory, 61-50.
Wesley Reed led the Bulldogs with 12 points. Curtis Gordon added 10 points and three rebounds. Ben Rodak tallied nine points and eight rebounds. Jeffery Robertson came off of the bench to knock down seven points.
The Bulldogs will see action again Saturday, February 8 when the host Calvin College at 7:30 p.m.
