GLENDALE, Wis. – In a 5-4 win on Friday, the men's tennis served notice that they are a team on the rise. The Bulldogs defeated Concordia (Wis.) which advanced to the NCAA Tournament a year ago in a signature victory.

The Bulldogs held a 2-1 advantage after doubles with No. 2 and No. 3 claiming wins. No. 1 doubles hung tough in their match falling 8-6. Spencer Georgetti and Michael Mertz had a cozy 8-4 win at No. 2 over Garrett Wells and Ben Nommensen. The No. 3 matchup was a tale of two different halves as Adrian's tandem of Alex Amos and Alex Kret trailed 4-0 and then battled back for a 9-7 win over Tanner Hahn and Robert Spiering.

Troy Gargrave and Michael Mertz raced ahead to straight set wins to give the Bulldogs a 4-1 lead. Gargrave at No. 5 beat Wells (6-1, 6-2) while Mertz at No. 3 beat Hahn (6-1, 6-1). The match tightened up to 4-3 after Jordan Verbauwhede and Kret fell at No. 1 and No. 6 singles.

Joey Loselle played a phenomenal match and battled his way to victory (7-6, 3-6, 10-8) for the clinching fifth point at No. 2 over Skip Turner. Amos at No. 4 fell in three sets (4-6, 6-2, 14-12) in a hotly contested matchup. The Bulldogs improved to 7-3 with the win.

"This was a team win where everyone chipped in," said head coach Adam Albertsen. "Our doubles play was strong and helped set the tone going into singles. Amos and Kret picked up a huge win to help keep the momentum. We fell to Concordia (5-4) last year, so it was nice to pull this one out. They are a team that plays hard and it was a big win for the guys."

The Bulldogs will continue play in Wisconsin on Saturday with a match against Milwaukee School of Engineering set for 5 p.m. eastern time.
