ADRIAN, Mich. – The No. 5 Bulldogs hosted Finlandia University Friday night for their first of three matchups with the Lions. Adrian commanded the game from the puck drop as they totaled 68 shots on goal while allowing 10. The Bulldogs cruised past the Lions by a score of 10-1 to advance their overall record to 14-0-3 with a 9-0-2 mark in the NCHA.
Kelsey Kusch ignited the Bulldog scoring as she recorded two goals in the first period on the way to a five-point night and a hat trick. Kristin Lewicki, Kaylyn Schroka, and Courtney Tyll each recorded a goal in the second period, Tyll scoring her first career goal. This brought the scoring to 5-0 in favor of the Bulldogs after two periods.
Logan Taylor then added to the Bulldog attack in the third period as she recorded a hat trick to finish with a five-point night. Devyn Fitzhenry finished the Bulldog scoring at the 14:48 mark of the final period as the Bulldogs earned the 10-1 victory.
The Bulldogs continued their outstanding play on the power play as they currently rank No. 1 in Division III. Adrian went 6-10 on the power play against the Lions to bring their season total to 29-84 (34.52%).
Kelsey Kusch scored her 56th career goal as a Bulldog at the 1:12 mark of the first period to advance her past Stacey Kempson as the all-time leader in career goals scored for the women's hockey program.
Jade Walsh (14-0-3) earned the victory in goal for Adrian by making six saves in 40 shutout minutes. Brooke Gibson saw 20 minutes of play and recorded three saves.
