ADRIAN, Mich. – The Bulldogs concluded their weekend with a nonconference match up against the unbeaten Connecticut College Camels who came in with a 7-0-3 record. The Bulldogs handed the Camels their first loss of 2014-15 by dominating the first period with five goals before tallying four more to earn the victory, 9-0.
Adrian stormed out to a five-goal first period with five different Bulldogs tallying a goal. Devyn Fitzhenry broke the 0-0 tie on an unassisted goal from behind the net that banked in off the Connecticut College goaltender. This fueled the Adrian attack that saw Hannah McGowan score less than two minutes of game play later. Kaylyn Schroka, Kelsey Kusch, and Michelle Jones joined the Adrian charge with three goals in the final 7:54 of the period to give the Bulldogs the commanding lead.
The Bulldogs did not let up as they would record three more goals in the second. Sydney Smith scored on the power play at the 3:54 mark and Fitzhenry notched two goals in 13 seconds to record a hat trick for the game while extending the Adrian lead to 8-0.
The final period saw Kusch score at the 3:54 mark on the power play for her 12th of the season to cap the Adrian scoring.
Kristin Lewicki, Bailey Robertson, and Courtney Millar aided the Adrian surge as they each notched two assists for the game.
Jade Walsh (9-0-2) earned the shutout victory in net for Adrian by making eight saves. Brooke Gibson helped keep the Camels scoreless as she made 14 saves in 33:20 of ice time.
The Bulldogs will see action again on January 9 when they travel to take on No. 5 Gustavus Adolphus at 6 p.m. ET
