Men's Soccer Comeback on the Road Falls Just Short Against Hope, 2-1

Box Score

HOLLAND, Mich. - The Adrian College men's soccer team couldn't complete the comeback on Saturday, losing to Hope College, 2-1, on the road.

The Flying Dutchmen (6-8-1 overall) started the game strong finding the back of the net twice in the first 15 minutes of the game. Hope senior midfielder Toby Blom scored an unassisted goal just eight minutes into the game. Then just three minutes later senior forward David Porte scored is team leading fifth goal of the seasons.

The Bulldogs would score a goal of their own in the 23rd minute when sophomore midfielder Shayan Shushtari scored his second goal of the season, unassisted.

Hope's defense would tighten up after the goal holding Adrian to just seven shots on the game.

The victory moves the Flying Dutchmen to 3-6-1 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association. The Bulldogs (4-9-2) also move to 3-6-1 in the MIAA.

Adrian will take the pitch again Tuesday, October 20, at 4:00 p.m. when it travels to Alma, Mich., to face the Scots of Alma College.
