Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College men's basketball team dropped a pivotal game against Albion College on Wednesday night by the final score of 64-62. The Bulldogs and Alma College entered the day tied for fourth place (5-5) in the MIAA standings vying for the final spot in the MIAA Tournament. The Scots are hosting Trine University tonight and at press time they are leading the Thunder 29-21 at halftime. The Bulldogs picked up a road win earlier this season at Albion and the Britons executed much better offensively in this one. Albion shot 50 percent (23-for-46) from the floor and 84.6 percent (11-for-13) at the free throw line. Adrian hung tough by shooting 45.8 percent (22-for-48) from the floor and 88.9 percent (8-for-9) at the foul line. It was a clean game with Adrian committing just six turnovers and the Britons eight.
The teams were deadlocked at 33-33 after 20 minutes as the Britons scored the first eight points of the game. Albion led 25-15 with 6:52 remaining in the half before the Bulldogs closed out the half on a 18-8 run. There were two ties and Adrian led 29-28 for the first time with 1:50 left in the half. The Bulldogs looked to be in control starting the second half and built a 43-37 lead in the first four-plus minutes. The Britons battled back however and regained the lead at 50-47 with 8:22 to play on a Dakota Kazen triple. Albion stretched their lead to 56-49 with 4:53 left to play and Adrian had to play catch up. The Bulldogs trimmed the lead to three on three occasions inside 2:10 to go but the Britons seemed to have an answer. Rickey Jackson, Jr. nailed a triple off the glass with eight seconds left to make it 64-62. Robert Ryan was fouled and missed the front end of the bonus. Jamison Webster secured the rebound and was fouled with three seconds to go. Albion had a foul to give and Adrian was out of timeouts inbounding the ball in front of their own bench. Ben Rodak got the ball and dribbled towards the near corner, but his shot was well defended and fell well short of the tin as time expired.
Jackson, Jr. paced Adrian with 16 points, 12 rebounds and six assists leading the team in all categories. Jamison Webster contributed 12 points with 10 coming in the first half. Jordan Denham scored 12 points off the bench including 2-for-2 behind the arc in 25 minutes. Kazen led Albion with a game-high 21 points.
