Bulldogs Dominate Heidelberg

LEXINGTON, Ohio - The Adrian College men's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 win at Heidelberg University on Sunday improving to 5-1 this season. The Bulldogs did not drop a single set en route to the victory and claimed three perfect singles outcomes.

Michael Mertz, Jeff Sophiea and Alex Amos each won 6-0, 6-0 in singles play. Troy Gargrave captured a 6-0, 6-1 win at five singles over Kyle Simpson. Joey Loselle won 6-1, 6-1 at two singles against Tyler Flickinger. Brandon Brom was a winner at one singles with a 6-0, 7-5 decision over Benjamin Moore.

Sophiea and Gargrave blanked Paul Claymier and Jamie Cole, 8-0, at two doubles. Loselle and Mertz had a tight match at one doubles before winning 8-6. Brom and Amos yielded just one game in their three doubles triumph.

"Winning all three doubles at Heidelberg and two doubles matches against Spring Arbor demonstrates that the players are applying 100 percent effort to our doubles in practice," said head coach Maxim Sukalo.
