The women's bowling team wrapped up their season as they traveled to Arlington Heights, Ill. to compete in the Collegiate Club Championships this past weekend. Adrian came into the championships ranked fifth in the nation amongst all club teams and was placed into the Weimer Pool as the two seed. West Texas A&M was the top-seeded team in the pool as they were ranked fourth in the nation and then Indiana State ranked 20th in the nation was the third seed. Adrian went 5-1 in their pool play to win their pool, which gave them a bye into the second round of the double-elimination bracket. The team's only loss in pool play was to the number one ranked club team in the nation Wright State University.
Adrian faced 17th-ranked Purdue in the first match and won the match 3-0 to move onto the next round to face top-seeded Wright State University. Adrian battled in the first game but two missed single-pin spares which allowed Wright State to take game one 190-186. The team regrouped and fired off a 224 to take game 2. In game 3 both teams went back-and-forth but Adrian pulled ahead as freshman Noelle Scheuer struck in the ninth and then senior Nicole Loomis struck in the first ball of the tenth to take game three 184-180 and put Adrian ahead 2-1 for the match. Wright State responded and Adrian had two costly opens to lose game 4, 187-168. With momentum on their side, Wright State got hot and started stringing strikes to win game 5 and knock Adrian into the contender's bracket.
In the first match of the contender's bracket, Adrian faced off against 10th-ranked Ball State. Ball State took the early lead winning game one, 172-141. Adrian fought back as they struck in the first three frames to shoot 200 and tie up the match 1-1. Both teams got off to bad starts in game three, but senior Katie Harms turned things around as she and sophomore Brittney Antonelli both struck in the sixth and seventh frames. A split in the eighth frame gave Ball State a chance, but Scheuer and Loomis shut the door as they both struck in the ninth and 10th to win the game 176-157. Adrian won the match and would face third-ranked Florida State University in the next match.
Florida State was the higher seed and had their choice of starting lanes, choosing to start the match on the left lane. Adrian easily took game one winning 194-159. Adrian struggled with the left lane as well in game two and Florida State responded winning 237-157. With the right lane scoring much higher, Adrian strung four strikes together early in the game to defeat Florida State, 225-165. They would move on to face second-ranked Bowling Green with the winner moving on to bowl for the club Championship against Wright State.
Adrian kept it clean through the first six frames, but opened in the seventh and eighth frames. Bowling Green capitalized and took game one 184-173. With momentum in their favor, Bowling Green got hot and easily took game two ending Adrian's run. Adrian would finish in third place for the tournament. Scheuer was voted onto the All-Tournament Team by the coaches for her outstanding performance throughout the tournament. Prior to the tournament, Scheuer was named a Club All-American finalist as well a Club Rookie of the Year finalist for her performance throughout the regular season.
