Box Score MEQUON, Wis. – Brooke Lupi scored a hat trick in the first period to push the third ranked Bulldogs past Concordia (Wis.).
The Falcons scored first when senior defender Chelsea Regan put the puck in the net with only 5:49 off the clock in the first period. Lupi would respond by scoring her first of three goals less than a minute later. She would score her final two goals of the night shortly after her first to put Adrian up 3-1 going into the first intermission.
Concordia (Wis.) would cut the lead to one on a power play when junior Veronika Metanova would put the puck in the net off the assist from teammate Ellie Woodman just a little under six minutes off the clock in the second period. Bulldog Captain Kaylyn Schroka would respond with a goal of her own with 9:59 left in the second period to bring the Adrian lead back up to two goals with the score 4-2. However, Concordia (Wis.) would respond a little over two minutes later with the final goal of the game to put the lead back to a single goal, 4-3.
Sydney Smith would finish the game with three assists. Logan Taylor would record two.
The Bulldogs outshot the Falcons 42-19 and would go 1-for-5 on power plays. Concordia went 1-for-3.
Adrian and Concordia (Wis.) will face off again tomorrow with the first puck scheduled to drop at 4:00 p.m. CST.
