Box Score ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's hockey team (15-2-0, 10-1-0) dominated the first two periods to defeat the outmatched Finlandia Lions (0-15-0, 0-10-0) 11-0. Michelle Jones and Kristin Lewicki each recorded hat tricks for the Bulldogs in a game that saw Adrian shoot the highest number of shots on goal in a game in program history with 81. That mark is also an NCHA team record for most shots on goal in a game.
Kaylyn Schroka put in the first Adrian goal on a power play just 3:21 into the game. For the next 11 minutes Adrian would dominate play but be unable to put the puck in the net until Kristin Lewicki scores on a break-away goal to put the Bulldogs up 2-0. That goal would quickly be followed up by two more, score by Brooke Lupi and Kortney Diaz, in less than two minutes to double the lead, 4-0. Lewicki would hit another goal in the final minute of the period on a power play to put Adrian up 5-0 heading into the first intermission.
The second period would go much the same as the first with Lewicki finishing her hat trick on a goal scored 1:31 into the second period. Michelle Jones would score five minutes later followed by Lupi. Jones would score the final goal of the second period with less than three minutes remaining to put the score at 9-0 in the final intermission.
The first of the final two goals was scored by Kayla Murray, the first of her career. She intercepted a Finlandia pass in the neutral zone and rushed away to score an unassisted break-away goal. Jones would finish off her hat trick by scoring with 2:31 left to play.
Logan Taylor would have another terrific night setting up teammates as she recorded four assists for the evening, her third game totaling three or more assists this season. She leads the team and the NCHA in assists with 23. Schroka also tallied three assists.
The Bulldogs host Finlandia again tomorrow on Senior Day. The first puck is scheduled to drop at 3:00 p.m.
