Bulldogs Dominate Lions on Senior Day

Box Score

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Adrian College women's hockey team dominated Finlandia 15-2 on Senior Day. The 15 goals in a game is a program best and an NCHA record.  Adrian scored 26 goals in two games against Finlandia this weekend. Kaylyn Schroka and Sarah Shureb both record hat tricks in the game, that's the second straight game that two Bulldog players have recorded hat tricks.

Shureb got the scoring started 6:47 into the game. Teammate Audrey Noles followed suit, scoring less than one minute later to increase the lead to 2-0 before Shureb scored her second goal and final goal of the period in the final four minutes of play to give the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead at the end of the first period.

Adrian would follow up the first period by scoring nine goals in the second period. The first two goals were short-handed goals scored by Schroka and Lexie Tzafaroglou in the first minute and a half. Tzafaroglou would score again just seconds later for her second goal of the game to double the Adrian lead to 6-0 with over 18 minutes still left to play in the second period. Noles would score her second goal of the game with 3:57 off the clock. Schroka and Shureb would both complete their hat tricks in the second period. Finlandia would get on the scoreboard with just a little over one minute remaining in the period when Kimberly Harter beat Adrian goaltender Brooke Gibson to score the final goal of the period. The Bulldogs would take a 12-1 lead into the final intermission.

Kortney Diaz would get in the goal column for Adrian with the first goal in the final period.  Sierra Meiners of Finlandia would score the Lion's second goal of the game in the final half of the period to put the score at 13-2. Brooke Lupi would add a goal and Kristin Lewicki would score her 50th career goal with 34 seconds left in the game to put the final tally at 15-2 in favor of the Bulldogs.

Adrian won 48-of-67 faceoffs and recorded 75 shots on goal for the game. The team also went 2-for-4 in power plays.

The Bulldogs travel for a two game series with NCHA rival St. Norbert next weekend. The Friday night game starts at 8:30 p.m., and the Saturday game is set to begin at 3:00 p.m.
