Box Score

ADRIAN, Mich.--Junior Jeremy Olinyk scored twice and freshman Connor Armour chipped in three assists as the top-ranked Adrian College men's hockey team completed a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association sweep of visiting Lawrence, defeating the Vikings 5-1 on Saturday at Arrington Ice Arena. The host Bulldogs improve to 17-2-1 overall and 13-2-1 in the NCHA-South Division, while the LU slips to 6-12-1 on the season and 5-8-1 in the North Division.

The Bulldogs' special teams had a hand in three of the tallies, including two power-play goals in the first period for a 2-0 lead. Sophomore Taylor McCloy potted his sixth goal of the season on assists from Armour and sophomore alternate captain Mathew Thompson with 5 minutes and 50 seconds left. Senior alternate captain Chris Leone scored what proved to be the game-winner with only 3 seconds left remaining from the point, as Armour and classmate Cory Dunn assisted.

Adrian dominated in shots on goal (35-22) and the face-off circle (37-of-60). Thompson won 14 of 19 draws and freshman Bryan Yim was 7-for-9.

Bulldogs sophomore goalie Dillon Kelley made 21 saves to improve to 2-0 this season, but his first career shutout bid was spoiled by Ryan Robertson at the 12:57 mark of the third period.

Jake Roeper and Josh Koepplinger assisted on the junior Robertson's first career goal from his defensive position.

Olinyk scored two goals, season numbers 10 and 11, to stake the Bulldogs to a commanding 4-0 advantage after two periods. The first came at 3:16 into the stanza on assists by freshman Chase Matson and senior captain Adam Davies. Then he scored shorthanded at the midway point as Armour assisted on the play.

Junior alternate captain Daniel Lisi capped the Adrian scoring with his seventh goal of the season at the 2:36 mark of the final period. Classmate Austin Hervey was credited with the assist.

Before the opening face-off this afternoon, the 2011 NCAA Division III Men's Ice Hockey Championship runner-up team was honored as part of Adrian Hockey alumni weekend.

Adrian will hit the ice again on Friday in Wisconsin, stepping out of conference play to face nationally-ranked Wis.-Stevens Point (No. 5 USCHO.com, No. 6 D3hockey.com). Opening face-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. Eastern.
