Connor Armour Scores Twice as No. 3/6 Ranked @ACBulldogHockey Sweeps Visiting Marian

ADRIAN, Mich.--The nationally-ranked Adrian College men's hockey team scored five of the first six goals in the game en route to a 6-3 win Saturday over Marian University, sweeping the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association two-game series over the visiting Sabres.

FOR ADRIAN
= Sophomore Connor Armour netted a pair of goals to lead the offense.

= Classmate Trevor Boyd also had two points with a goal and an assist, while senior Austin Hervey (pictured, right) and sophomore defenseman Cory Dunn mirrored Boyd on the scoresheet.

= Three more Bulldogs--junior captain Mathew Thompson and sophomores Bryan Yim, Braden Hellems--also enjoyed multi-point games with two assists each.

= Sophomore goalie Kevin Entmaa made 18 saves to improve to 4-1 on the season. 

THE OPPOSITION
= Jake Howie was one of three Marian goal-scorers.

= Derek Thorogood led the Sabres with seven shots on goal.

= Relief goaltender Mike Gudmandson stopped 23 of 24 shots he faced over the course of the last 30 minutes and 42 seconds.

= Nick Monfils scored his first goal of the season in the second period and Thorogood also had a tally later on.

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Adrian led 2-0 after the first period and took a 5-1 lead midway into the second. The Bulldogs outshot the Sabres 51 to 21 on the afternoon.

= Howie cut Adrian's lead to 2-1 by opening the scoring in the middle stanza with the Sabres on the power play. After a failed attempt by Adrian to clear its defensive end, Howie stepped into a slap shot from the blue line and the puck clanged off the right post into the net.

= The Bulldogs, however, reeled off three unanswered goals by Armour, Boyd and Dunn in a 4:42 span to take a commanding four-goal advantage.

= Adrian continued the pressure in a scoreless third period, getting 15 shots while limiting MU to just four.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= The Bulldogs extended their unbeaten streak to 13 games over Marian, going 11-0-2 during that span.

= The 'Dogs lead the all-time series over the Sabres 23-2-2, including 14-1 on home-ice.

= Adrian improves to 5-1 on the season when scoring the first goal of the game.

= The teams combined for seven goals over 16:59 in a wild second period. Adrian enjoyed a 21-10 shots on goal advantage as the Bulldogs outscored the Sabres 4-3 in the frame.

= Adrian is 10-2-1 in the months of October and November under third-year coach Adam Krug '12.

= The Bulldogs are 2-0-1 after three series this season.

= With a power-play goal today, Dunn (pictured, below) leads NCAA Division III blueliners with four this season.

= The Bulldogs are tied with Oswego and Utica for the longest winning streak in the nation at five games.
