Bulldogs Suffer First Loss of Season to No. 1 Plattsburgh State, 5-0

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - The Adrian College women's hockey team lose its first game of the season 5-0 to the defending National Champion and top-ranked Plattsburgh State.

HOW IT HAPPENED

First Period: Plattsburgh 3, Adrian 0

• Plattsburgh scored early with a goal at 2:22 into the first period when Melissa Sheeran scored the first of two goals off the assist from Erin Brand.

• Ashley Songin and Courtney Moriarty scored in the final three minutes of the period to put the Cardinals up, 3-0 going into the first intermission.

• Plattsburgh outshot Adrian, 11-6 in the opening period.

Second Period: Plattsburgh 4, Adrian 0

• Sheeran scored her second goal of the game on the power play with 11:47 left in the second period. She was assisted by Kayla Meneghin and Karen Hudson.

• The Cardinals edged the Bulldogs in shots for the second period, 13-10,

Third Period: Plattsburgh 5, Adrian 0

• Mackenzie Millen would finish the scoring for the game with 6:10 left in the game. She scored off the assist from Megan Crandell and Hannah Kiraly on the power play.

• Plattsburgh finished the game with 33 shots to Adrian's 20. The Cardinals were also 2-7 (.286) on the power play; the Bulldogs were 0-5.
