Second-Ranked Adrian Roars Past Host Finlandia Lions in Hard-Fought NCHA Battle

HANCOCK, Mich.--Nationally-ranked Adrian College flexed its muscles in a physical game with four goals in each of the first two periods to cruise to a 10-1 win over Finlandia University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game on Friday. 

THE BASICS

TOP 'DAWGS
= Freshman Vincent Paquette, the reigning NCHA Offensive Player of the Week, pumped in two goals and two assists.

= Sophomore Trevor Boyd matched him with a game-high four points on two goals and two assists.

= Sophomore goalie Kevin Entmaa made 15 saves to improve to 6-1-1 on the season.

= Freshman Vinny Post recorded two goals among three points.

= All told, nine Bulldogs were credited with multi-point games as joining Boyd, Paquette and Post were juniors Kyle Brothers (1g-2a-3p), Blake Butzow (2a), Taylor McCloy (2a), sophomores Connor Armour (3a), Bryan Yim (1g-1a-2p) and freshman Joey Colatarci (2a).

= Sophomore Chase Matson, who also contributed a goal, led all players in face offs with 13 wins in 20 draws. Armour added 9-for-12 and senior Austin Hervey was 8-for-12.

THE OPPOSITION
= Alex Rezansoff scored Finlandia's lone goal.

= Kendall Bolen-Porter and Cody Wickstrom also registered points with an assist apiece.

Alec Rounds, the Lions' third goalie of the evening, posted a game-high 16 saves (3 goals allowed) over the final 30 minutes and 12 seconds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Rezansoff scored just 60 seconds after the opening face-off to give FU a 1-0 lead.

= The line of Armour-Boyd-Paquette combined on Adrian's first three goals as part of a four-goal run in the first period. Paquette scored the tying goal at 4:36 when he split two defenders at the blue line and ripped a shot from the left face-off circle over the goalie's right shoulder. Then he netted the go-ahead tally 7:02 later.

= Freshman Scott Clark potted his first career goal to stake the Bulldogs to a 5-1 advantage, sparking another four-goal period in the second. Adrian held a commanding 8-1 lead after 40 minutes.

= The Bulldogs outshot the Lions 40 to 16.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= Adrian leads the all-time series over Finlandia 19-1, including 8-1 on the road. 

= The 10 goals allowed ties a season high for the Lions, who also gave up 10 to Wisconsin-Superior on the road on Oct. 29. It also marked Finlandia's worst loss of the season.

= The Bulldogs tonight set series records for goals in a game and margin of victory.

= Before Friday, the last time Adrian reached the 10-goal plateau on the road was Jan. 9 when it won at Aurora, 11-0.

= Post has four points (3g, 1a) in two games after missing the first six due to injury.

= Both Boyd and Paquette established a career high for total points. Butzow also tied his career best with two assists.

= The squads combined for 56 penalties, 239 penalty-minutes and five ejections.

= The Bulldogs set team records for penalties (25) and penalty-minutes (112). For the previous single-game benchmarks were 20 infractions at Lawrence University, Nov 7, 2008, and 76 minutes done three times (most recently: 76 at MSOE, Nov 11, 2011).
