Emilee Davidson Sets Tone with AC-Record Seven Blocks in 59-43 MIAA Road Victory for Women's Basketball

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Visiting Adrian College got balanced scoring with four student-athletes in double digits as the Bulldogs eased past Saint Mary's, 59-43, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's basketball game on Wednesday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED

= Adrian had four double-digit scorers in senior Antoinea McElroy and junior Marissa Cotton with game-high honors of 14 points apiece, followed by junior Paige Machnacki and freshman Ashley Morris (6 rebounds) with 10 each.

= The Bulldogs held the Belles to just 27.1 percent from the field (16-59) and controlled the glass, 51 rebounds to 42.

= After Maddie Kohler's jumper to pull SMC within 32-25 at the 4:53 mark of the third quarter, Adrian used a 27-18 run the rest of the way to seal the win. Adrian led by double digits during the entire fourth quarter, including a 23-point lead (58-35) on a fastbreak lay-in by Machnacki.

= Adrian led 15-8 after 10 minutes and 32-23 at the intermission.

= The Bulldogs' bench outscored SMC by a 43-4 margin.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

= Junior Emilee Davidson (6 points) came off the bench to set an Adrian single-game record with seven blocked shots (old mark of six by Jasmine Byers vs. Alma College, Jan. 25, 2012) and haul in 10 rebounds, the most she's had in a gold and black uniform. The seven blocks tie a MIAA high this winter.

= Adrian swept the season series from Saint Mary's for the third time in a row.

= The 43 points allowed by the Bulldogs are an opponent season-low.

= The 12 turnovers tied for the fewest by Adrian this season.

THE OPPOSITION

= Krista Knapke was the only Belles scorer in double digits with 13 points, connecting on 6 of her 16 field goal attempts. She added a team-best 10 rebounds to complete a double-double.

= Kelsey Ronan contributed team highs of 12 rebounds and three assists while scoring seven points.

UP NEXT

= The Bulldogs return home to the Merillat Sport & Fitness Center on Saturday for Senior Day and #Play4Kay Pink game.

= Nationally-ranked Calvin will be the opponent in another key game for Adrian, which is in the hunt for a MIAA tournament berth. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
