ADDISON, Ill.--The nationally No. 23-ranked Adrian College women's bowling team knocked down a total of 7,842 pins to end up in 23rd place out of 54 teams at the 2017 Kegel/ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic held over the weekend here at Stardust Lanes. It is an United States Bowling Congress-sanctioned Tier I event.
"This past weekend was another good one for our women," Adrian head coach John Essenmacher III said.
Adrian started out very strong in the tournament by being in fourth place after three games. The Bulldogs, however, hit a rough patch toward the end of the first day--in 31st place.
But on Day 2, everyone stepped up and bowled great as a team to help the Bulldogs rise eight spots to finish at 23rd.
Individually, senior Brittney Antonelli led the way for the Bulldogs as she shot a 954 for five games and finished in 32nd place out of 368 bowlers.
Division I Wichita State University was first with a grand total of 8,778 pins.
The Bulldogs will be back in action at the American-Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference Tournament Nos. 3 and 4 on Saturday and Sunday in Westland (Bowl), Mich. Competition is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. both days.
