Men's Hockey Conquers Host Lawrence Vikings Behind Balanced Offensive Effort

APPLETON, Wis.-- The visiting Adrian College men's hockey team got goals from five different student-athletes on the way to a 5-3 victory over Lawrence University in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association action on Friday evening. Senior blueliner Michael Hoy led the way with a goal and an assist for the Bulldogs, who scored in each period.

THE BASICS

TOP 'DAWGS
= Hoy was joined by goal-scorers juniors Taylor McCloy, Austin Rust, Mathew Thompson and sophomore Cory Dunn.

= Sophomore Trevor Boyd and freshman Matt McNair added two assists apiece.

= Junior goalie Dillon Kelley made 16 saves to improve to 5-0 this season.

THE OPPOSITION
Matt Beranek led LU with a pair of tallies.

= Greg Procopio turned aside 21 shots in the Vikings net.

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Hoy scored what proved to be the game-winning goal--his first of the season--with 12 minutes and 4 seconds left in the third period, giving Adrian a 4-2 lead at the time.

= Adrian peppered the Lawrence net in the first period, 16-2, to take a 2-0 advantage on goals from Thompson and Rust.

= Beranek single-handedly brought the Vikings into a 2-2 tie with second period goals at 22 seconds into the frame and 12:28 later. The second one came unassisted when he picked up a loose puck in front, and with the Bulldogs on the power play.

= Adrian, however, regained the lead for good on McCloy's fifth goal of the season with 2:02 remaining. The Bulldogs led 3-2 going into the third period.

= Hoy and Dunn made it 5-2 by the midway point of the final stanza before Sean Reynolds closed the scoring on the power-play late in the contest.

= For the game, Adrian also held a 26 to 19 shots on goal advantage.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= Adrian improves to 19-0-3 in 22 all-time meetings against the Vikings.

= The Bulldogs have won three in a row on the road, but are 7-0 in NCHA away games this season.

= Kelley moved past Tyler Parks for sole possession of fourth place in goalie victories (9-1).

UP NEXT
= These same two teams meet again on Saturday (5 p.m. Eastern) to conclude their NCHA series.
