DEFIANCE, Ohio--Shannon Garvey scored 14 points and Angelina Goosby added 13, but the Adrian College women's basketball team couldn't offset a deep Defiance bench in an 80-65 non-conference loss to the Yellow Jackets on Saturday afternoon.

TOP 'DAWGS
= Goosby connected on 5 for 7 from the field en route to establishing a career-high points total. She also led the Bulldogs with five rebounds.

= Senior Starnisha Harris dished a season-high six assists, grabbed four rebounds and scored nine points off the bench.

= Sophomore Aly Kubik recorded eight points, four rebounds and two blocked shots.

= Freshman Sha'Trice Graves pulled down four rebounds in four minutes of playing time.

THE OPPOSITION
= Lauren Rogers netted a game-high 20 points on 8 for 12 from the field, including four 3-pointers in five attempts. She also had four rebounds.

= Mekai White produced 13 points on four treys and a free throw.

= Whitney Schalk completed a double-double with 11 points and a game-best 12 assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Defiance outscored Adrian's bench 30 to 17 and made 13 of 25 three-point field goals for 52.0 percent while holding the Bulldogs to no treys (five attempts).

= Adrian tried to stay in the contest by attacking the rim, which generated 31 trips to the free throw line where the Bulldogs converted 21.

= Both teams shot the ball fairly well as Adrian was a season-high 45.8 percent (22-48) while Defiance was slightly better at 49.2 (30-61).

= The visitors led 3-0 before DC ended the first quarter on a 16-6 run. Consecutive buckets by Sam Ervin and Rogers put the Yellow Jackets ahead to stay, going up 4-3.

= After Defiance took a 36-19 lead at halftime, Adrian was able to cut the deficit to single digits on a couple occasions in the third quarter.

= But in the final stanza, the 'Jackets were able to pull away with a comfortable lead.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= Defiance now leads the all-time series 14-12, snapping the Bulldogs' streak of five victories in as many meetings.

= The Bulldogs have dropped four in a row.

= The Yellow Jackets compete in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference.

= Garvey is third in conference scoring at 15.6 points per game.
