FORT WAYNE, Ind.--The Adrian College women's bowling team rolled to an eighth-place tie at the 2017 American-Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference Championships at Pro Bowl West on Saturday. The Bulldogs knocked down 3,360 pins at the 19-team field.
The AHIBC tournament consisted of 20 baker games, then the field was cut down to the top-eight.
Despite the top-10 team finish, Adrian experienced an up and down day at the conference championship. Fortunately, the team scores were low throughout the field. Adrian had a tough fourth set but did not give up, coming back with a 706 in the next one that vaulted them from 11th to eighth. The Bulldogs then had to bowl a one-game roll-off due to a tie with Alma College, but did not make the cut after a 191-164 loss to the Scots.
"It's all (about) spare shooting and we need to improve (in that area) before Sectionals arrive later this month. We also finished second last year so that's why losing in the roll-off hurts so bad," Adrian head coach John Essenmacher III said. "I am confident this team will bounce back quickly."
No individual results were provided.
