ADRIAN, Mich. - The Adrian College women's hockey team swept the visiting Foresters of Lake Forest College after a 5-2 victory at Arrington Ice Arena on Saturday. Brianna Buchanan scored twice and tallied an assist to lead the Bulldogs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Brooke Schembri scored an unassisted goal at the 2:48 mark of the opening period to put the Bulldogs up 1-0. Buchanan followed at the 11:17 mark with her first of two goals, assisted by Schembri, to give Adrian a 2-0 cushion. Maddie Davis scored less than one minute later to cut the deficit to one.

Kayla Griffith notched the tying goal in the second period when she scored on the power play. Buchanan recaptured the lead for the Bulldogs, scoring off a dish from Olivia Fox to put the score at 3-2, Adrian. Jacqueline White gave Adrian an insurance tally when she scored with a slap shot from the far boards off a feed from Sydney Daversa.

The final score of the game came from Fox in the third period off assists from Buchanan and Neysa Miller to put the home team ahead 5-2.

Adrian finished with a 30-18 advantage in shots while going 0-for-2 on the power play; Lake Forest capitalized on one of its five man-advantages.

TOP DOGS

• Buchanan's two goals came off of three shots. She finished with a +3.

• Schembri (1,1), Fox (1,1), and White (1,0) each tallied a goal.

• Miller (0,1) and Daversa (0,1) contributed with one assist each.

• Kate Turner (W, 10-5-1) made 16 saves in her 10th victory of the season.

THE OPPOSITION

• Davis (1,0) and Griffith (1,0) were the goal scorers for LFC.

• Amy Budde (0,1), Kate Fanning (0,1), Olivia Spellmire (0,1), and Julia Unterseher (0,1) finished with an assist.

• Jacquie Audet (L, 3-4) made 25 saves for the Foresters.

UP NEXT

Adrian will travel to St. Norbert next week for a weekend series with the Green Knights on Friday and Saturday, January 26 and 27. Friday's matchup is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m., EST.
