HOW IT HAPPENED

Adrian got on the board 14:26 into the first period when freshman Kenzie D'Ascenzo scored the first goal of her collegiate career. She received the pass from junior Jacquelin White and put the puck past the goalie to make it 1-0. Wisconsin River Falls would answer before the period was over, scoring with 1:40 left in the opening frame to tie the game at one heading into the break.

Over half the second period would pass before another goal would be scored and it would be sophomore Brooke Schembri netting an unassisted tally to give the Bulldogs the lead 12:27 into the second stanza. The Falcons wouldn't sit back and tied the game just 10 seconds after the Bulldogs scored to knot it again at two. The score would remain tied for the remainder of the second period.

It would take most of the period once again to score once again, but this time it was Wisconsin River Falls taking the lead, with just over five minutes remaining in regulation. With its back the wall, Adrian dug deep and was able to tie the game with 2:39 remaining when senior captain Tory Harshman equalized the game. Assisting Harshman was freshman Julia Barrett and sophomore Sydney Daversa.

The game would go into overtime, and neither team could score, but the Black and Gold were awarded a powerplay with 54 seconds remaining in the game. Just in the nick of time, freshman Jessica VonRuden scored the game-winning goal, the first goal of her career, with less than a second remaining in the overtime period to win the game for the Bulldogs. Harshman picked up her second point of the game with an assist on the deciding goal.
