HOW IT HAPPENED

Adrian got on the board early in the game as yesterday's overtime hero, sophomore Jessica VonRuden scored her second goal of the season 5:23 into the first period. She received a chip out of the defensive zone from junior Maggie Mitter and took the puck up the ice and beat the goalie over her glove for the early lead.

It would be VonRuden again to double the Bulldogs' lead with 3:39 remaining in the opening frame. Junior Brianna Buchanan picked up the puck in the Falcons' zone on the forecheck and found VonRuden in the slot, who beat the goaltender on her blocker side this time to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 advantage heading into the first intermission.

The second period was a different story, as Wisconsin River Falls scored three times, including twice in 59 seconds to take a 3-2 lead heading into the final period. The Falcons would score again early in the third period, coming at the 3:36 mark on the powerplay. Adrian would be able to get one back, as senior Kortney Diaz scored an unassisted, shorthanded goal with 2:55 remaining. Diaz picked up a bouncing puck in the neutral zone and beat the last defender to get in on goal and beat the goalie low blocker side.
