Nationally-Ranked Men's Hockey Roars Past Lions, 5-1

ADRIAN, Mich.--The nationally-ranked Adrian College men's hockey team scored three goals on the power play en route to a convincing 5-1 victory Friday over visiting Finlandia in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game.

TOP 'DAWGS
= Freshman Michael Montambault had his first career multi-point game as a Bulldog with a goal and an assist. He also finished 6-for-10 in the face-off circle.

= Senior captain Cory Dunn also posted a goal and an assist from his defensive position, while classmate Connor Armour made two assists.

= Armour led the way on face-offs, winning 16 of 22 draws.

THE OPPOSITION
= Cale Markham scored the Lions' lone goal on an assist from Cade Warner.

= Vinny Mastrandrea was efficient in the face-off circle, 7-for-9.

= Marcus Gloss had 42 saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Junior Matt McNair, senior blueliner Braden Hellems and Montambault scored power play goals for Adrian, which led wire-to-wire in building a 4-0 cushion in the third period.

= Dunn scored just 91 seconds after the opening face-off and the Bulldogs never looked back.

= About five minutes later, McNair scored what proved to be the game-winning goal on assists from junior Vincent Paquette and senior Bryan Yim

= Markham spoiled senior goalie Kevin Entmaa's shutout bid, shorthanded, with 12:25 left in the third period, but Montambault restored the four-goal lead 24 seconds later on assists from fellow freshmen Brandon Marinelli and Trevor Coykendall.

= Adrian outshot Finlandia 47 to 12, including 22-1 in the first period alone.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= Adrian holds a commanding 23-1 lead in the all-time series, including 12-0 at home against the Lions.
