THE BASICS
= Final Score: Adrian College 7, Aurora University 4

= Location: Geneva, Ill. (Fox Valley Ice Arena)

= Records: Adrian Bulldogs 19-4 overall, 15-1 NCHA-South; Aurora Spartans 5-13-4, 4-10-1 NCHA-South

= Junior defenseman Braden Hellems and sophomore Ryan Cusin were each credited with two assists.

THE OPPOSITION
= Drew Doyon and Rihards Marenis led Aurora with a goal and an assist apiece. Marenis finished with a team-best five shots.

= Josh Boyko (L, 5-9-2) made a game-high 28 saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Boyd broke a 4-4 tie with his third goal of the day 9 minutes and 21 seconds into the third period, as Cusin and classmate Dino Balsamo received assists on the decisive scoring play.

= Adrian iced the win with a pair of goals in the final 1:42 as McCloy scored an empty-netter and junior Bryan Yim produced his eighth of the season 71 seconds apart.

= The Bulldogs outshot the Spartans 35 to 22, including a 15-5 margin in the decisive three-goal final period. Adrian also went 2-for-3 on the power-play.

= Marenis tied it 4-4 with an unassisted tally 46 seconds into the third period.

= The first two periods featured alternating goals by the teams. Aurora held leads of 1-0 and 2-1 before Adrian took its first lead at 3-2 on a power-play goal from Boyd--his second of the game--at 5:32 of the second. Senior Austin Rust made it 4-2 at 9:03 with his eighth goal of the season on assists from junior Chase Matson and freshman Dean Hewines.

= But Aurora clawed back for the next two goals with Marenis' help. First, he assisted Drew Doyon's tally at 16:46 to close the second period scoring. Then he opened the scoring in the third.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= Adrian also defeated Aurora 6-1 at home on Jan. 13, completing the regular season sweep of the Spartans and now leading the all-time series 6-0. Adrian is 3-0 on Aurora's home-ice.

= Today was the first time that the Adrian defense gave up more than three goals since a 6-2 loss to Salve Regina on Dec. 29. The Bulldogs haven't lost a game since that time.

= The 11-game winning streak is the longest for the program since the 2015-16 squad also went 11-straight from Nov. 28 to Jan. 22. Adrian has begun a new calendar year undefeated, untied for the first time since 2008-09 (17-0).

= The four goals are the most the Spartans have ever scored against the Bulldogs.

= Currently, Adrian owns the longest winning streak in NCAA men's hockey and has the second-longest in all Divisions behind the D-I Clarkson women (15 games).

UP NEXT
= Adrian returns to the friendly home confines of Arrington Ice Arena next weekend to close the regular season against NCHA opponents MSOE (Friday at 7:05 p.m.) and Concordia-Wisconsin (Saturday at 3:05 p.m.).
