COLUMBUS, Ohio--The Adrian College women's bowling team started the 2019 calendar year at the Ohio State University Buckeye Baker Classic here at HP Lanes, where the Bulldogs were sixth out of 12 teams with 5,516 pins from Jan. 12-13. In the championship bracket, Adrian was the sixth seed to face third-seeded Alma in a best-of-three series.
The Bulldogs started the first day off in fifth place. The team was led by senior Marissa Land who bowled anchor the whole weekend. Sophomore Erica Jones also helped the team a lot through the bakers. The women who rotated was freshmen Nicole Discenna, Kylie Middleton, Adrienne Spranger, sophomore Emily Moharter, and juniors Kayla Clark, Jordyn Stone rotated spots.
Adrian suffered a tough pattern through the bakers, but landed a spot in the championship round against the Scots who squeaked by the 'Dogs with a two-games-to-one victory.
Top teams after qualifying were No. 1 Huntington, No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Alma. Alma upended Huntington in the finals for the tournament trophy.
The Bulldogs will be getting ready for a big tournament this upcoming weekend from Saturday and Sunday, January 19-20, at the Kegel/ISBPA Classic Tier 1 tournament, which will have over 70 teams competing in Addison, Illinois.
