Balanced Scoring Lifts Men's Hockey Soaring Past CUW Falcons, 5-3

ADRIAN, Mich.--Adrian got goals from five different student-athletes and used a strong first period to repel Concordia-Wisconsin in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association men's action, overcoming a one-goal deficit to win 5-3 on Saturday.

THE BASICS

= Records: Adrian Bulldogs 13-5-1 overall (8-3-1 NCHA South Division), CUW Falcons 5-11-3 overall (3-7-2 NCHA South Division)

TOP 'DAWGS
= Sophomore goalie Nikita Babintsev won his third start in a row in as many assignments this season after making 21 saves, several in spectacular fashion.

= Seniors Connor ArmourBryan Yim, juniors Dino Balsamo, Bryce Van Horn, and freshman Rex Moe scored for Adrian.

= Adrian was 39 for 73 on face-offs, paced by Armour (12-for-22), Moe (8-for-14) and Yim (5-for-8).

THE OPPOSITION
= Nick Guiney led CUW with two assists.

= Adam Fauchoux (11-for-16) and Connor Hogg (9-for-11) led the Falcons in the face-off circle.

= Goalie Bo Didur (L, 5-6-2) made 42 saves on 46 shots faced.

HOW IT HAPPENED
= After spotting the visitors a 1-0 off the stick of Braydon Barker 8 minutes and 31 seconds into the game, Adrian reeled off three goals in a span of 5:13 beginning with Yim's tying tally at the 11:50 mark. Armour made it 2-1 3:10 later and Van Horn gave the Bulldogs a two-goal lead 2:03 after that.

= Moe extended Adrian's advantage to 4-1 just 83 seconds into the second period with his first goal in a Bulldogs jersey.

= The Bulldogs outshot the Falcons 47 to 30 on the afternoon.

= For the final five minutes of the third period, CUW made things interesting with a pair of goals from Stefen Seel and Nick Guerra 3:25 apart.

= But Dino Balsamo iced the win with an empty-net goal with 32 seconds remaining.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= Freshman goalie Justin Crawford, a midseason transfer from fellow NCAA Division III foe Fredonia State, made six saves in his Adrian debut.

= Babintsev has been terrific in goal since an injury sustained to four-year starter Kevin Entmaa, posting a 3-0 record, 1.05 goals-against average and .948 save percentage in 170:38.

= Cory Dunn (5+14=19) and Balsamo (7+12=19) lead Adrian in point-scoring while Yim has a team-best 12 goals.

= The Bulldogs have won all 39 meetings with the Falcons.....

= Adrian hits the road next weekend for a pair of key NCHA contests at St. Norbert (Friday, 8 p.m. ET) and at Finlandia (Saturday, 3:15 p.m.).
