White Posts Hat Trick in Huge Conference-Opening Win

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – The No. 2 Adrian College women's ice hockey dominated the Marian (Wis.) Sabres to open NCHA play, with three athletes collecting five points apiece, accounting for six goals and nine assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The hosting Sabres were able to keep an extremely offensive Bulldogs' squad off the board for the majority of the opening period, finally beat on a penalty kill in the 16th minute by senior-transfer Nicole Guagliardo. She was helped along by by Kelly O'Sullivan and Jessica VonRuden. This tally proved to be the game-winner.

Period two saw two goals, both by helpers on the squad's first goal. O'Sullivan scored first, with her power play goal at 11:01. Owning assists were Guagliardo and Une Bjelland. Following up with a tally of her own was VonRuden at 14:50, aided by O'Sullivan and Jaden Rilei.

The third period saw the most goals, seven, with Jacqueline White recording a hat trick. White started her scoring 57 seconds into the final stanza, just 10 seconds into another power play, assisted by Guagliardo and Bjelland. The senior would find the back of the net again, just two minutes later as she was able to convert on passes by O'Sullivan and Rilei.

Neysa Miller added her name to the stat sheet with a goal at 6:49, with helpers by Rilei and Sydney Daversa. Maggie Mitter followed suit three minutes later, assisted by White and Kaleigh Cadorette in the ninth minute. 

White completed her hat trick in the 13th minute, with the pairing of O'Sullivan and VonRuden collecting helpers. Within 50 seconds of White's score, Guagliardo added another of her own, as VonRuden and White connected to help extend Adrian's lead to nine goals.

The Bulldogs' final goal came off the stick of Abbie Grias at 17:41, with Guagliardo and Bjelland collecting the final assists.

Earning the win was Denisa Jandova with her five saves, as she recorded the start. In her first collegiate contest, freshman Sophie Goldberg collected six saves in her 15 minutes player.

Adrian went 4-for-6 on the power play and 46-for-68 at the faceoff circle, led by Grias with 15 faceoff wins. AC led the shot count, posting 61 to Marian's 11.
