Bulldogs Double Up Lake Forest to Take Sole Possession of NCHA South Division Lead

ADRIAN, Mich.--Adrian scored two goals in all three periods and got contributions up-and-down the lineup to double up visiting Lake Forest, 6-3, and retake first place in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association South Division on Friday.

THE BASICS

= Records: Adrian Bulldogs 15-6-1 overall (10-4-1 NCHA South Division); Lake Forest Foresters 10-7-5 overall (8-4-3 NCHA South Division)

TOP 'DAWGS
= Freshman Matt Eller notched his first collegiate goal and added an assist for a multi-point game.

= Seniors Braden Hellems (2 goals), Cory Dunn (3 assists) and Connor Armour (2 assists) also enjoyed multi-point efforts.

= Like Eller, fellow freshman defenseman Brandon Marinelli was credited with his first collegiate goal.

= Helping the Bulldogs command the face-off circle (39-of-69) were senior Bryan Yim and junior Vinny Post at 9-for-13 and 7-for-11, respectively.  

THE OPPOSITION
= Aaron O'Neill registered a hat-trick and went 13-for-20 on face-offs.

= Cody Guidorzi chipped in two assists.

= George Argiropoulos (L, 6-3-3) made 46 saves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Adrian peppered the Lake Forest goal by a 52-20 shots on goal advantage, went 3-for-7 on the power-play and came from behind three times (1-0, 2-1, 3-2).

= With the Bulldogs on the man-advantage, Hellems broke a 3-3 tie with his first goal of the night coming with 18 seconds remaining in the second period.

= That was the first of three consecutive goals for the Bulldogs on the power play. Providing insurance were Marinelli at 8:19 of the third period and Hellems about five minutes later to give the hosts a commanding three-goal cushion.

= A wild first period saw the teams combine for five goals with the Foresters leading by one on three occasions. After O'Neill scored just 10 seconds after the opening face-off, Eller tied it 1-1 3 minutes and 27 seconds later. O'Neill made it 2-1 at the 7:08 mark before senior Trevor Boyd evened it up at 15:11. O'Neill gave LFC its last lead with 28 seconds left.

= Junior Joey Colatarci, who later added an assist, tied the game 3-3 with his fourth goal of the season to open the second period scoring 2:52 in.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= Adrian avenges a 6-0 loss to the Foresters in Lake Forest, Ill., back on Jan. 11. The teams were tied with 19 points coming into today's key contest and now the 'Dogs have 21 to move past LFC.

= The Bulldogs lead the all-time series over Lake Forest, 27-1-1, including 14-0-1 at home.

= Adrian senior goalie Kevin Entmaa, who had been unavailable since Jan. 8 due to an injury, made 17 stops in his return to improve to 11-4-1 on the season.

= Armour has 65 career assists to list 16th on the Bulldogs' all-time chart.

= Adrian will have its regular-season home finale against Aurora (Saturday, 3:05 p.m.) on Senior Day at Arrington Ice Arena.
