HOW IT HAPPENED

Adrian opened the scoring in the first period when junior forward Brianna Buchanan scored the first goal of the game for the second game in a row. Junior defenseman Anna Shepherd headmanned the puck up to her classmate Jacqueline White. White entered the zone and found Buchanan in the slot to make it 1-0 Adrian 7:46 into the contest. The Bulldogs doubled their lead 25 seconds later when another junior, Maggie Mitter, knocked home a rebound. Junior defender Lexi Grunden worked the puck over to sophomore forward Neysa Miller. She took a shot that careened off the goalie's helmet and right to Mitter to put it in for the goal. AC would take the 2-0 lead into the first intermission.

Most of the second went by without a goal but senior forward Kortney Diaz scored with 3:02 left in the second stanza to give the Black and Gold a 3-0 advantage. Shepherd took a shot on goal that was turned aside and the rebound found its way to senior forward Hannah Dalrymple. She couldn't get a good stick on it and fanned on her rebound attempt but Diaz was there to scoop up the puck and score. Adrian got another one in the middle frame when freshman forward Jessica VonRuden put one home with 40 seconds remaining in the period on a 2-on-0 with Buchanan to make it 4-0 after two.

The Bulldogs scored one more in the contest, a power play goal from White with 6:13 remaining in the game. AC worked the puck around the Falcons' zone, with VonRuden finding Buchanan in a scoring position. Buchanan took the shot and White got a piece of it to send it past the goalie and make it 5-0. Concordia-Wisconsin would then score with 2:05 remaining to avoid being shutout.

Adrian was back to its old ways of outshooting its opponents by a wide margin, putting 50 shots on net to Concordia-Wisconsin's 11. The Bulldogs have now put 50 shots or more on goal five times this season. This also marks the sixth time AC has scored five or more goals and is the 11th time the Black and Gold have allowed one goal against or fewer.
