Bulldogs Clear Past Lake Forest to Reach NCHA Harris Cup Title Game; Win 5-1

ADRIAN, Mich.--The Adrian College men's hockey team is in the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Harris Cup Finals for the fifth year in a row thanks to a convincing 5-1 victory over visiting Lake Forest in the NCHA Semifinals on Saturday evening. 

THE BASICS
= Final Score: Adrian College 5, Lake Forest College 1

= Location: Weston Rink at Arrington Ice Arena; Adrian, Mich.

= Records: No. 1 NCHA-South seed Adrian Bulldogs 20-7-1 overall; No. 2 NCHA-South seed Lake Forest Foresters 12-10-6 overall

= National Rankings: Adrian--#10 in United States College Hockey Online (138 points) and #10 in D3hockey.com (128) polls; No. 8 in NCAA PairWise

TOP 'DAWGS
= Junior Matt McNair led the offense with a goal and an assist.

= Senior Connor Armour led all players with 15 face-off victories in 20 draws, while classmate Bryan Yim went 6-for-8.

= Senior goalie Kevin Entmaa (16-5-1) made 22 saves.  

THE OPPOSITION
= George Argiropoulos (L, 8-5-4) tried to keep LFC close by making 40 saves on 44 shots he faced.

= Cody Guidorzi scored the Foresters lone goal.

= Aaron O'Neill led Lake Forest with five shots on goal and was 15-for-27 on face-offs. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Adrian started out quick by scoring three goals in the first period when it outshot Lake Forest by a 21 to six margin. Yim put the Bulldogs on the scoreboard just 2 minutes and 47 seconds in from the slot after McNair won a board battle on the right side. Junior Vincent Paquette made it 2-0 at the 10:27 mark on assists by freshman defenseman Brandon Marinelli and his junior partner Joey Colatarci. Then with 4 minutes and 44 seconds to go, McNair followed up to knock in the rebound on senior defenseman Braden Hellems' shot from the point.

= The teams traded goals in the second period. Guidorzi pulled LFC within 3-1 at the 7:40 mark on a feed from Austin Aksoy behind the net. But less than 5 minutes later, junior Vinny Post restored Adrian's three-goal lead by poking at the puck in the crease after senior Brian Bachnak's original shot from high between the circles. 

= Freshman Austin Bottrell closed the scoring with an empty-net goal with 2:08 remaining in the final period.

= The Bulldogs dominated both the shots board (45-23) and face-off dot (47-of-78).

= The Adrian lineup saw 12 skaters register at least one point.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= Adrian now leads the all-time series 28-1-1, including 15-0-1 on home-ice.

= The Bulldogs move to 30-5 all-time in the conference playoffs.

= Yim has 50 goals and 54 assists in his career, becoming the 14th Bulldog in history to reach the 50-50 club.

UP NEXT
= Adrian will play at top overall seed St. Norbert on the road next Saturday, defeating Marian 6-2 in tonight's other semifinal. Game time and ticket information to come at a later date.
