PITTSBURGH – The Adrian College women's bowling team competed in two American Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference tournaments on Jan. 25-26 at the Mount Lebanon Lanes, earning fifth place out of 15 teams at AHIBC#3 before slipping to seventh of 14 schools at AHIBC#4.
For the AHIBC#3, Adrian scored a 6133. For the AHIBC#4, the Bulldogs scored a 5681. The format for the tournaments were five games and 12 bakers for day one and four games and 16 bakers on day two.
For day one, the Bulldogs started with a 848 team game. They then threw a 766 and a 874 for team games two and three. They threw a big game four with it being a 979. They finished with a 755. They held onto fifth place after bakers.
Duquesne took first (7041 pins), Wright State came in second (6849) and Alma was third (6799).
Individually, junior Erica Jones threw a 925, placing her in ninth place out of 120 bowlers with a 185 average. Sophomores Kylie Middleton and Nicole Discenna both threw a 904 series for five games. They both averaged 180.8, placing them 12th. Senior Jordyn Stone threw a 843, placing her 20th.
For day two, the Bulldogs started with a 832 team game and followed that up with a 835. They upped their game with a 883 for their third team game. They finished with a 797 their fourth team game. They hung onto seventh place after bakers.
Duquesne claimed first (6720 pins) again, Alma was second (6616) and Wright State placed third (6346).
Individually, Stone placed ninth out of 100 bowlers, throwing a 739 for five games (184.75 average). Freshman Megan Staley placed 29th, throwing a 655 for five games. Discenna threw three games and scored a 587 and averaged a 195.67.
The Bulldogs' next tournament will be Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Alma Classic in Alma, Mich.
