Nationally No. 2-Ranked Hope Proves Too Much for Women's Basketball

ADRIAN, Mich.--Second-ranked Hope used a 15-2 run to end the first quarter of a close game in the opening few minutes to fly past host Adrian, 96-28, in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon.

THE BASICS

Records: Hope Flying Dutch, 21-0 overall (12-0 MIAA); Adrian Bulldogs, 8-13 overall (2-10 MIAA) 

TOP 'DAWGS
= Sophomore Rylee Campbell led Adrian with 13 points.

= Classmate Addison Bergman had a game-high eight rebounds and junior Sha'Trice Graves (5 points) added seven.

= Junior Rachel Bucher (4 points) led the Bulldogs with three assists.

THE OPPOSITION
= Meg Morehouse came off the Hope bench to lead all scorers with 16 points on 4-for-5 shooting from the field and 8-for-8 at the free throw stripe.

= Lauren Newman, Kenedy Schoonveld and Claire Baguley chipped in 13, 12 and 11 points, respectively. The trio combined for 15 of 27 field goal attempts. In addition, Schoonveld had four rebounds and three steals and 

= Arika Tolbert (3 points) posted game highs of six assists and five steals.

= Courteney Barnes (9 points) and Mallory Gerber (4) led the Flying Dutch with six rebounds apiece. The former also had two blocked shots. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
= Hope made 35 of 69 field goals for a .507 percentage while holding Adrian to 10-of-43 for .233.

= The visitors had 25 steals that led to a season-high 40 turnovers for the Bulldogs, resulting in 49 points off turnovers for Hope.

= The Flying Dutch also had a big advantage at the free throw line with 34 attempts and 21 makes; the Bulldogs were 5 for 8.

= Bucher made a layup for the game's first points after the opening tip.

= After the teams combined for five missed field goals in the opening three minutes, Hope turned a 3-3 tie into a 13-point lead by the end of the first quarter. Eight different Dutch scored at least one point during that run.

= The Flying Dutch increased their lead to 49-14 at the intermission as the Bulldogs couldn't get the deficit under 20 points the rest of the way.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
= Hope sweeps the season series and extends its all-time series lead over Adrian, 71-32. The Flying Dutch have won the last 47 meetings.

= Graves continues to pace the MIAA in rebounding with a 10.3 average.

= As a team, Hope leads the MIAA in scoring offense (76.8 ppg), NCAA-best scoring defense (40.3 ppg), field goal percentage (.440), rebound margin per game (+11.9), assists (16.1 apg), steals (16.2 spg) and NCAA-second-best opponent field goal percentage (.293).
