PHILIPPI, W.V. -- The Adrian College women's rugby team traveled to West Virginia to play a pair of matches against Alderson Broaddus on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs split the matches winning the first match 14-7 and dropping the second match 7-5.
Adrian jumped on the board early in the first match with a try from
Claire Ames in the first minute of play off a steal from
Madison Williamson. Williamson recorded a successful conversion to go up 7-0. The Bulldogs went into the half with the lead. Alderson Broaddus scored early in the second half to tie the match 7-7. Later in the match, Ames grabbed the ball out of a scrum and took it 90-yards to recorded her second try of the match. Williams picked up the conversion giving the Bulldogs a 14-7 win.
In the second match, Alderson Broaddus struck first in the fifth minute to lead 7-0 which resulted in the halftime score.
Shyann Ronning recorded a try late in the second half for the black and gold, but it wasn't enough as they dropped the match 7-5.
The Bulldogs return to action on the road at Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday, October 23. The matches are slated to start at 11:00 AM in Delaware, Ohio.
