ALLENDALE, Mich. - For the third-consecutive outing, the Adrian men's rugby team turned in a 50-point performance en route to a convincing victory. This latest edition saw the Bulldogs rout homestanding Grand Valley State 53-0.
"Our boys kept possession throughout a majority of the match," said head coach
Benny Mateialona postgame. "It is a win, yes, but I'm not completely satisfied with our execution."
Four different Bulldogs scored multiple tries for the black and gold, including
Macgregor Adams,
Aleki Sanita Tautua'a,
Lolohea Fonua, and
Max Miller with two each.
Farid Abboud added an additional score for Adrian, while
Sam Williams and Adams both contributed two successful conversions.
The Bulldogs (5-0) entered the weekend ranked second in GOFF Rugby Report's Top 40 poll, while National Collegiate Rugby had Adrian ranked at number seven in its most recent Men's Division II poll.
Over the last three matches, Adrian has outscored its opponents by an average of 42 points. Also, since being held to 12 points in the season-opener back on August 27, the Bulldogs have yet to be limited to anything less than 40 points in a single match.
Adrian continues its three-game road trip next Saturday at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan.
