ADRIAN, Mich. -- The No. 3 ranked Adrian College NCAA men's hockey team is set to host its home opener on Friday night against Trine University. The Bulldogs come in with a 3-1 record and are already 2-0 in NCHA play after a weekend sweep over Marian. Trine holds a 5-1 record on the year and is also 2-0 in conference after a pair of wins over Concordia Wisconsin.
In the all-time series between Trine and Adrian, the Bulldogs have come out ahead in every game holding a 14-0 record against the Thunder. Eight of those victories come at the Arrington Ice Arena, and the largest margin of victory came last season when Adrian won 11-1.
Ty Enns,
Hunter Wendt, and
Ryan Pitoscia lead the Bulldogs with five points each. Enns best game came in the team's first win of the season after defeating Utica College. Enns recorded a goal and a pair of assists in the win. Wendt has recorded a point in every game so far this season. Two of his points came in the victory over Utica where he scored a goal and picked up an assist. Pitoscia wrapped up the weekend against Marian with three assists in the series finale.
Mathew Rehding leads the team in scoring with four goals with the help of his first career hat trick against Marian in the first game of the series.
Cameron Gray will look to record his third win of the season on Friday. Gray is 2-0 on the year allowing five goals and collecting 36 assists.
Adrian has scored 17 goals on the year and has only allowed 11 as they total 4.3 per game. The Bulldogs have scored on the power play 33% of the time with five goals. The penalty has been strong allowing just two goals of 21 chances. The team also totals a 131-115 record in the face off circle.
The Bulldogs will look to stop Garrett Hallford and Bobby Price of Trine who each have totaled four goals on the season. Brendan Prappas has recorded six assists on the season to lead the team and sit second in points. Sophomore goaltender Shane Brancato has made five starts on the year allowing ten goals and recording 88 saves for a save percentage of .898 to go with his 4-1 record.
Adrian will host Trine on Friday at 7:00 PM for the home opener. On Saturday, Adrian will travel to Angola, Indiana to wrap up the series against the Thunder. Saturday's game will start at 7:00 PM.
